Limping prisoner legs it during hospital trip for sports injury

Police in Brandenburg are hunting a prisoner who was being taken to hospital for treatment to an injured leg – but who threw down his crutches and ran off so fast that no-one could catch him.
The 32-year-old prisoner was serving several years in prison at the Brandenburg/Havel prison for fraud.
A spokesman for the Brandenburg Justice Ministry had to admit at the weekend that the man had escaped on Saturday.
The spokesman said the prisoner could not be chained up when he was taken to the Brandenburg Hospital for treatment to a sports injury, as he was on crutches following a leg injury.
But the limping lag surprised all those present when he flung away the crutches and dashed out of the hospital corridor. The two prison officers who were guarding him gave chase, but could not catch him.
