Two children died in the southern German town of Lustadt over the weekend when they apparently dropped a hair dryer into the bathtub where they were playing, broadcaster Südwestfunk reported on Monday.

The accident occurred around 5:30 pm on Sunday evening, the station said.

Rescuers from the German state of Rhineland-Palatinate could not revive the two sisters, aged four and six, after they were found in the family bathroom.

Police said there was no evidence of foul play and they await autopsy results to determine the exact cause of death.

“Therefore police believe for the time being that it was a tragic accident,” the station said.
