The 30-year-old man, identified by police as Sermet I., was already the subject of an arrest warrant and was picked up on Friday as he re-entered the country at Stuttgart airport in southwest Germany.

He has gone before a judge accused of providing logistical back-up to the terror network.

It is thought he had worked since 2004 with Aleem N., another suspected al Qaeda member who has been charged by authorities with procuring money and other material for the terror network as well as recruiting new members.
