Speeding car launches into church roof
A 23-year-old man launched his car off a steep slope into the roof of a Limbach-Oberfrohna church in a high-speed accident that left the driver seriously injured, police in the state of Saxony reported on Monday.
According to preliminary police investigation, the man drove over a steep incline going fast enough to launch his car into the nearby church roof when he lost control of the vehicle at crest of the hill, a police spokesperson said. The car flew several metres through the air as it lost contact with the road, landing some seven metres above the ground in the roof, which sustained substantial damage.
Emergency workers extracted the man with a crane.
A physicist and other specialists will help police determine the exact events that led to the accident, the spokesperson said.
