Telecommunication prices down 3.3 percent

Telecommunications prices in households dropped by 3.3 percent in 2008, according to the Federal Statistics Office (Destatis) on Monday.
The numbers included prices for fixed-line networks for internet and mobile communications in 2008. Prices for the same services decreased by 0.3 percent the year before.
“Here the competition between so-called complete offers (telephone and DSL connection, telephone flat rate, and internet flat rate) were made apparent,” Destatis said in a statement.
Meanwhile prices for mobile phone calles were down by 2.3 from the year before, the study said.
