Canadians win in Berlin firework competition
Heavy rain put a dampener on the second and final night of the Pyronale international firework competition in Berlin’s Olympic stadium on Saturday night.
The pyrotechnicians from Canada won the prize in front of a 40,000-strong crowd.
They, along with teams from Slovakia and Denmark had the advantage of setting their fireworks off on Friday, when the skies were clear.
“We saw some wonderful displays and had two wonderful evenings,” one of the technicians told daily Berliner Morgenpost. He said that 60,000 people attended over the two nights.
The competition included compulsory disciplines such as working in the colour orange and green, without music, for 1.5 minutes.
