A woman in the town of Herne in western Germany was attacked with a table fan and a metal rod by five men of Indian origin after she objected to them indulging in exhibitionism.

The incident took place on Sunday as the 41-year-old passed a ground-floor apartment together with her 13-year-old daughter, police in Herne in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia said.

The five men could be seen from the street with their pants pulled down, exposing their genitals. The outraged mother stormed to the window and banged on it with her handbag, sparking an angry war of words. One of the men then opened the window and threw a table fan at the woman, according to the police. The men then reportedly ran out of the apartment, followed the woman and beat her up.

The police report detailing the incident spoke of officers finding a crowd of about 20 people when they arrived on the scene. “An Indian man was running around waving a metal rod in the crowd and hit the woman several times with it,“ the report said.

Officers yanked the rod away from the man, a drunk 27-year-old, and temporarily arrested him, charging him with causing bodily harm and indulging in exhibitionism.
