Three dead in train collision in Bavaria
At least three people are dead in a train collision after a car driver apparently overlooked an oncoming train at a railroad crossing, police in Nuremberg reported late Monday night.
The railroad crossing was equipped with blinking lights and signs but not with gate, according to police in the German state of Bavaria.
The train had been traveling along a stretch near Pfofeld in Bavaria's Middle Franconia region around 6 pm when the collision occurred. No passengers were injured in the accident, a Deutsche Bahn spokesperson said.
Train service in the area was suspended until the end of operating hours on Monday night after the accident, the spokesperson said.
