Pensioner injures tourist with Hofbräuhaus beer mug

A 67-year-old German pensioner could face charges of attempted manslaughter after smashing an Italian tourist in the head with his beer mug at Munich’s famed Hofbräuhaus.
The pensioner apparently became angered after the 36-year-old Italian man, who was sitting at the same table, spilled beer on him after slapping down his own massive mug on Sunday night. The pensioner responded by aggressively grabbing the tourist by his jacket and cracking him on the head with his Hofbräuhaus glass, local police reported on Monday.
The Italian man was so severely injured by the attack he had to be brought to a nearby hospital where he underwent an emergency operation. The pensioner had to be subdued by the Bavarian brewery’s security. The police are now investigating the incident as a case of attempted manslaughter.
