First children’s opera house in Germany opens

The first opera house in Germany built especially for children will open in the northern city of Dortmund on Monday.
The Brothers Grimm tale “The Valiant Little Tailor” – about a tailor who travels the world to seek his fortune after killing seven flies with one blow – will be the first show in the 100-seat theatre.
A festival week with a symposium, music and dancing is also planned.
The project cost €450,000 ($696,000) to build, according to representatives of the Dortmund Theater. Donations are still needed to run the theater.
Two large productions are planned for each theater season.
