A passenger aircraft with 27 people on board slid off the runway and collided with a noise barrier at Mannheim airport in southwest Germany, emergency services and airport authorities said on Thursday.

The twin-propeller Dornier 308 operated by Germany's Cirrus Airlines en route from Berlin and carrying 24 passengers, mostly business people, crashed late on Wednesday, they said.

None of those on board were injured but media reports said panic broke out before the plane rolled to a stop and passengers could disembark. The airport was closed while investigators looked into the incident.
