Munich airport police find skeleton in carry-on luggage
Two elderly women stunned police at Munich airport when they passed through security with a human skull and several bones in their carry-on luggage, German authorities said on Wednesday.
Security staff spotted the human remains in a sealed bag belonging to the women, aged 62 and 63, when they arrived in the southern German city from Brazil and put the bag through an x-ray scanner, police said in a statement.
During questioning, the women told authorities they had been carrying out the last wish of a man who died 11 years ago in Sao Paulo to be buried in Italy.
After checks with Brazilian authorities, the police allowed the two women to continue on to Naples with their baggage intact.
