Popular Neo-Nazi boutique forced to close

A shop selling a clothing brand populare with neo-Nazis has been forced to close following widespread protests. In response to the protests, a shop for Thor Steinar, a clothing brand popular with neo-Nazis, will have to move. The Thor Steiner shop on Alexanderplatz will close at the end of the month due to cancellation of its rent contract. Thor Steiner, however, told the Berlin daily, the Tagesspiegel, that it has already found retail space elsewhere in Berlin and will open its new store this week.

German man convicted of bizarre murder in Greece

A Greek courted has sentenced a 47-year-old German man to life in prison for the murder of his wife. The man remained living in an apartment together with the corpse of his 54-year-old dead wife, which lay surrounded by flowers, dolls and stuffed animals. The man was arrested in the small northern town of Asprovalta last February and stood trial in the city of Thessaloniki.

Germans celebrate Oscar Nomination

German-Austrian film Die Fälscher – The Counterfeiters - has been nominated for the Oscar for best foreign film. The movie was co-produced in Babelsberg, near Berlin.
