Woman cheats death as rock destroys car

A woman narrowly missed being hit by a huge rock which fell from a cliff and completely wrecked the car she had just got out of. German police said she cheated death by a couple of steps.

The Freiburg police, responsible for Breisach am Rhein in the Black Forest where the incident happened, have released terrifying photographs of the car showing the enormous rock which smashed through the roof and windscreen and landed on the driver’s seat. No-one sitting in that seat could have survived.
The woman who had parked her VW Lupo on Tuesday and taken a couple of steps away before seeing it squashed by a rock, was slightly hurt by flying debris, but was otherwise unharmed.
Two other cars were slightly damaged by the Lupo as it was shoved forwards by the impact.
“The woman certainly had a bit of a shock, but was lucky to only have lost her car, not her life,” said Steffl.
Emergency services closed off the road, which Steffl said had a number of parking bays, while engineers examined the cliff.
