What real Germany are you speaking of?
Professor Quincy Wright offers this further statistical evidence for the same period, that is, 1480-1940:
Of the 278 wars involving European states during this period, the percentage of participation by the principal states was: England, 28; France, 26; Spain, 23; Russia, 22; Austria, 19; Turkey, 15; Poland, 11; Sweden, 9; Netherlands, 8; Germany (Prussia), 8; Italy (Savoy-Sardinia), 9; and Denmark, 7.7
The only bit of truth in this comment is "the future....which is coming quickly."

Never accept people who judge people because of their skin color. It is so crazy that racism even exists in 2011. Let's NEVER let nazism happen again.
What has the Football Association got to do with it ?.
I'd have to say Professor Wright's numbers are a little misleading, given the fact that Prussia didn't exist as a kingdom until 1701, and Austria, for much of its history, was central to the Holy Roman Empire (i.e. the Medieval German State). If one accounts for how many wars the Holy Roman Empire was involved in during its existence (from 962 - 1806), you'll find that the number is far greater than 8.
Of course, this predates the era you mentioned (1480 - 1940) by some 500 years, but I believe the HRE instigated upwards of 30 wars throughout its existence, against everyone from the French, to the Italians, Danes, Swiss, Hungarians, Bohemians (Czechs), Poles, Ottomans, Arabs (Crusades), Baltic peoples (Crusades), feuding German states, etc... And if we count ALL the wars the HRE participated in, offensive and defensive, we're probably looking at closer to 50.
But in any case, Germany wasn't a unified state in the same sense as France or England, or even Russia, until much later in its history. Although referred to as an Empire, the HRE functioned much more like a confederation than anything else.
Or they foreign professors of the victorious armies, writing "history" ?
Yes, I'm a big history buff, and I love European history, especially; from ancient Greece to WWII, and everything in between.
And to answer your question, yes, indeed I do I have "The Bloodlands". It is definitely one of the most comprehensive books I've ever read about the pre-war, and wartime horrors on the Eastern Front, by far. And it really sticks with you. The chapters about collectivization in Ukraine and the Holodomor are haunting. When I was a kid, the Holodmor was never even brought up in history class, so it was rather shocking to read about. Given the mass-cannibalism that occurred, I understand that it's a very sensitive subject for Ukrainians, but it's something Westerners need to know about. It's hard to even imagine what some of those people went through; first having to deal with Stalin, then having to deal with Hitler, and then having to deal with Stalin again, back with a vengeance. A pretty bleak existence, no doubt.
