Tokio Hotel singer Bill laments lame love life

Published: 23 Nov 09 13:00 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.de/society/20091123-23461.html

Bill Kaulitz, the androgynous lead singer of German pop band Tokio Hotel, told Berlin’s BZ tabloid on Monday that his love life was a major disappointment even though he was idolised by teen girls around the world.

“If I look at the last five years, I didn’t have a chance to fall in love,” said Kaulitz, who admitted he last had a serious girlfriend when he was 15. “That’s really not enough for a 20-year-old.”

Kaulitz, known as much for his extravagant appearance as his music, said he doubted he’d truly fall in love any time soon.

“It will probably never happen to me,” he told BZ. “I hope I’m wrong, but right now that’s a realistic assessment. There are no dates and there’s no chance to meet anyone normal.”

But he said speculation he was gay because of his penchant for makeup and big hair was “almost boring” and to be expected: “I think it’s completely okay when guys like me. Why shouldn’t it be?”

The frontman for the former teenie rock band from Magdeburg also lamented how stardom had changed everyday aspects of his life.

“I have people who take care of everything – which is pretty cool for the first two years,” Kaulitz said. “But nowadays I’d like to decide on my own how to fill my fridge.”

But only once did he dare indulge his shopping urge – at a supermarket in America at 3 am, when the store was completely empty. “That was the first time that I realised how much there is to buy,” he said.

No girl wants to go out with a guy who's prettier than she is.
13:46 November 23, 2009 by westvan
Really. My (Tokio-Hotel-indifferent) kids are always saying "Soooo, is Bill gay or what?"
14:23 November 23, 2009 by Moonboot
he's probably said that to get some positive attention. their record sales are falling.

now all the impressionable teenage girls will feel sorry for him, imagining they could be his girlfriend one day.

classic sales ploy.

I hope he finds an awsome girl and falls in love with her very soon. And I hope that girl knows how damn lucky she is!

Bawwwwwwwww

I live extraordinary life but want an ordinary life.

Bawwwwwwwww

I'm more inclined to believe this is a advertising ploy then anything else.

Wow...people are really mean. Let's give credit where credit is due. Geez! Let's face it...he is absolutely adorable and who gives a flying **** if he is gay? And even if he's straight, it would SUCK to always wonder who is real? Most famous people struggle with living in a bubble.... he's not complaining-just stating the fact that it's been hard to live a normal life. Him and the group have accomplished a hell of a lot more that you or I ever will, especially for their age. He's still just a kid for crying out loud-cut him a break!

ps. the CD is the bomb...they really don't NEED publicity......my kids love them!

"...that his love life was a major disappointment even though he was idolised by teen girls around the world."

The article does not specify for whom his love life was a major disappointment - I'm assuming it was a major disappointment for the teen girls around the world. Everything else would just be nonsense...

Poor Bill.

I hope he gets the chance to fall in love.

If there was any doubt about his sexual preference, The Local has cleared it up with the help of Kai Diekmann.

I have absolutely no doubt in my mind that this guy is gay. His love life would improve substantially if he would just admit it so he can hook up with his male fans rather than his female ones.

Although I'd imagine the management behind them are probably preventing him from doing this, seeing as their fan base is 99% teenage girls.

Okay people. Why don't you learn to read better before making comments! Bill never said he was gay. He said he wasn't. Just because you men can't get girls and he can don't mean he's gay. And to the girls just because he's better looking than you don't mean he's gay either. He hasn't had time to date because of the band and they are way more successful than you will ever be. Also, he probably doesn't hit on these girls because hes not a pervert like all other men. He's a good guy and you people need to back the hell off him! So why don't you go back to your pathetic lives playing with your self and quit commenting on stuff you don't even like. It shows your stupidity and no one cares what you have to say!

Honestly, why does it matter if he is or isn't? Does that change anything? It shouldn't! Bill has every right to be who he wants to be (dress how he wants and look how he wants) the poor guy gets constants crap all the time-this isn't making the poor guy's life better. If he is gay he is gay-if he isn't he isn't. Stop making assumptions!!!! Just because he looks that's way doesn't prove he is gay! Why does it matter to you people any way? Shouldn't matter to you because just like us Bill has every right to be who he wants! GROW UP EVERYONE!

Bill already gets crap from the press and all that, he doesn't need you guys to make him more stressed! Let Bill live his life the way he wants to!!!!!

(besides, he's too sweet and kind-heart to deal with this bogus nonsense!)

JUST GROW UP EVERYONE AND LET HIM LIFE IN PEACE THE WAY HE WANTS TO LIVE-STOP BEING SO FREAKING PREJUDICES!!!!!

Some of the above comments cannot be real. People like that don't exist in the real world. Right? Come on, they have to be from their street team/record company.

Right guys?

Hello? Is this thing on?

Oh? You mean Tokio Hotel fans are really like this?

BRB suicide.

Shame that some of the comments posted on The Local don't show up here on TT. You guys are missing gems like this:
i know bill will fall in love some time soon n she n him will b lucky 2 have each other but it takes time 2 do so coz u wanna find a girl that like u …

There are no dates and there?s no chance to meet anyone normal.
How would somebody normal want to go out with him... he's himself not normal.
15:42 November 26, 2009 by Alyy33
First of all, Bill's not gay.

Just beacuse he's got his own style and is not afraid to show it, it doesn't make him gay.

And even if he was, it wouldn't change anything.

He'd still be the nicest guy ever.

and if you're jealous of the fact that he's probably 100 times better looking than you are and at lesat that many times more successful than you, that's not our nor his problem and we don't wanna hear it.

So f*?* off

I don't think Bill should give up looking because that special girl is out there somewhere .I think any girl would be lucky to have Bill as there own because he is talented and people are saying he is a really cool dude and he looks really cute and hot when takes sexy pics.
21:17 November 27, 2009 by nicnacann
I think bill should stop looking b/c if u keep looking you will never find it u have to let fate run its course i maybe only 18 but my parents have been married for 26 years and my grandparents for 50 and i ask how they meet and how they fell in love and is always the same they stoped looking for a quick min and there the other was and i know that i have given up and i havent dated anyone since i was in the 7th grade and he was my best friend and it didnt work out. So bill more power to u try with all ur might but once in awhile u need to take a breather heres my tip for all who have "given up" take a step back and vist a place no one would look for u see if i was to go some where i would have to run to some place other than okc where i am at now. Anyway my point being bill just drop off the rader for a bit get your head and heart talking to each other not yelling

love,

for ever single in okc

p.s love tokio hotel just wish they could be my first live show ever!

Hi Bill, I believe in true love, I am 19 years old and waiting for that special someone, I also believe that special person will come into my life, but while I wait I still will seek so don't give up on believing in true love. There is someone out there for everyone in gods timing. but for know just keep living everyday life, you'll see, it will happen when you least expect it.
