Ex-White House chef served double portions to Helmut Kohl

Former Chancellor Helmut Kohl has never been known for being shy at meal time, but now ex-White House chef Walter Scheib has told Gala magazine he was fed double portions to keep him happy while visiting Washington.

But Kohl wasn’t the only one who challenged the 54-year old chef during his 11 year tenure in the White House kitchen. Former First Lady Hillary Clinton, who always kept an eye on her weight, wanted Scheib to cook healthy recipes from a diet cookbook, Gala reported.
"Six weeks later she came into my kitchen and said: 'Walter, I am not losing any weight!'," he told the magazine. "So I put myself on the same diet and lost nine pounds. She became all embarrassed and asked: 'Could we remove the mocha tart from the fridge?' She was nibbling from it at night,” Scheib said.
After all, praise from the heads of state always made Scheib proud, he said. Should he have ever prepared stuffed pig belly for Helmut Kohl, he surely got his compliment, as the national dish is the former Chancellor’s favourite.
