Greek row with Germany over debt turns nasty

Published: 24 Feb 10 17:33 CET
Online: http://www.thelocal.de/politics/20100224-25487.html

The German government on Wednesday dismissed a claim by the mayor of Athens that it still owed Greece billions of euros in reparations for World War II damage amid a mounting row with Berlin over the country's debt crisis.

"I must reject this criticism," Andreas Peschke, a spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry, said at a scheduled briefing in Berlin, referring to the claim made earlier by Athens Mayor Nikitas Kaklamanis.

In a complaint to Chancellor Angela Merkel over a front cover of German magazine Focus showing a statue of Venus making an obscene hand gesture, Kaklamanis wrote: "You owe us 70 billion for the ruins you left behind."

Peschke on Wednesday said Germany had already paid more than €4.4 billion under formal war reparations and compensation for slave workers, adding: "A discussion of the past is not of great help in resolving Greece's problems."

The spokesman said Germany had also paid out some €16.3 billion ($22.2 billion) to Greece in the form of bilateral and European Union assistance since 1960 to help the country's European integration.

Germany, Europe's largest economy, is seen as the key to any EU financial assistance package to help Greece out of its spiralling debt crisis.

Many German taxpayers, however, are angry at the prospect of having to assist more profligate European economies such as Greece.

Speaker of the Greek parliament, Philippos Petsalnikos, on Tuesday said he would invite the German ambassador to discuss media coverage he described as subjective, simplistic and at times inaccurate, the Ana news agency said.

Petsalnikos accused the Stern weekly of misleadingly summing up the crisis as Greece frittering away German taxpayers' hard-earned euros and arguing that Germany was footing the bill for Athens's irresponsibility.

However, the Greek newspaper Eleftheros Typos also did not pull punches on Wednesday, writing "finance Nazis are threatening Europe" and "the Germans have slandered our country enough." The accompanying picture to the article adorned a famous statue in Berlin with a swastika.

Prime Minister Georges Papandreou hit out at foreign officials and media last month for descriptions of the Greek crisis that "bordered on racism," but has not raised the issue since.

Greece's government overspending reached 12.7 percent of output in 2009 as the global downturn sent public deficits through the roof, putting government bonds under pressure, weakening the euro and pushing the eurozone into crisis.

Under acute pressure from its 15 eurozone partners, the Greek government has pledged to slash its deficit to 8.7 percent this year, agreeing to painful public spending cuts that sparked a general strike on Wednesday.

The EU has pledged support for Greece but has also ordered strict monitoring for its deficit-cutting program, and Tuesday sent a team to Athens on the first of a string of visits to make sure it is on the right track.

Lived there for 2 years about 20 years ago. Great country and people -- fond memories -- my landlady was like a mother. True about the tourists, mostly from Northern Europe.

Different culturally from Northern Europeans and are very passionate. Hope this works out.

If greece is looking for a bailout from germany by calling them nazis, it's pretty low. They basically have been scamming Germany for years, just like Ireland. We (Ireland) have had hige increases in taxes and lower salaries within a very short time, and no riots. What they are doign in greece is economic suicide. Do not bite the hand that feeds! Such a cheap shot.
22:29 February 24, 2010 by wxman
This is an area that we in the US are quite familiar with. Hatred by the people of other countries because they depend so much on your tourist dollars and other economic support. Remember, familiarity (and dependency) always eventually breed contempt. Welcome to the club. Mind if we engage in a little schadenfreude?

The EU is still not a Union and will not be until "them" becomes "us." You can't have a union and then point fingers and blame "them." Negative feedback is manifesting itself from Greece over threats and a feeling of inferiority elicited no doubt from parental type behavior on behalf of the Germans. Germany is not bailing out the Greeks, they are preventing a domino effect and it needs to be presented that way so that the Greeks can save face.

The U.S. had the same problems after the Revolutionary war. They argued over who should pay the debts that each former colony racked up. Thomas Jefferson argued that Virgina had already paid its debt and could not be assessed again. Alexander Hamilton pushed for a centralized strategy which include the first national bank. Now such an argument would carry little weight as every state knows that there is strength through unity.

Treat the greeks nicely and give them what they ask for because a wobbly Greece is just what the Islamic extremist doctor ordered. Next in line is Turkey. There goes the neighborhood.

The mayor of Athens is an idiot douchebag who is pandering to other idiot douchebags. Too many Greeks are lazy. They don't want to work and feel entitled to taking a third of the year on vacation so they can sit around eating baked fish and dates while sipping Ouzo. Get to work, Greeks. Enough of your nonsense.

Lets face it,It was bound to happen when the going gets tough lets blame the NAZIS,Who of course could be running GREECE judging by the comments comin from the GOVERNMENT there.

STOP trying to blame the GERMANS for everything it must be the YANKS or the BRITS or the FRENCH who are no doubt going to be the next ones to be BLAMED

We dont need to visit GREECE for a HOLIDAY we have a GREAT Country here.

With love likes this we brought down Europe last time. Wake up people, the troubles are real and more than just paneuropean. Sure blame the smal guys in the south, Portugal, Greece etc, they created the whole global banking disaster not bankers in the UK, Germnay and NYC. Ever heard of the treuhand and the 260 billion the Germans hid to get into the EURO? Ever heard over the German hospital debt which vanished in thin air when hospitals became AGs?

Greece's government does the only thing it has left in its options drawer.

Try to divert public anger directed at you towards someone else.

Not Germany ruined Greece, its own banks and the government systematically ruined it since years because. As we all know, Greece is not alone with this problem.

But what really stinks is that they dont even really want to admit that.

They never did it.

Its the same with the type 214 uboats that were in production for Greece.

Once the first boat was delivered for sea trials , the hellenic navy came up with stories how bad that submarine is , with the propulsion system not working properly, the sub being too noisy, often rolling in rough seas, periscopes not working properly..... A whole list of complaints OF COURSE followed by a demand to lower the price of this boat and the other five that were yet to be delivered.

Interestingly , the south Korean navy bought the same type of uboat , has three of them in service, ordered another six of them and never encountered any of these "design flaws".

Basically none of the over a dozen costumer countries which own german made uboats ever issued any quality or design complaints.

It was clear from the beginning that the greek government simply had not enough money to afford all of the submarines it had ordered at the point when the first one was delivered.

Once again it had the choice between honesty and the old "lets squeze the price of this car" by blaming the manufacturer method.

And now its "We may have ruined the country but.....look what those evil nazis write in their newspapers about our proud country , isnt that outrageous ?"

This is as low as one can get.

Sorry do not get the bail out the banks, kick the country out argument. German Land Banks have lost more than 25 billion in a single year and the C-guys are still in place. Am I the only one that has a problem with this?

BTW, took a look at the Focus cover that seems to have sparked the nazi reply. I wonder how we would react if Lady Liberty was in place of this Lady us the finger?

Greece is having a financial meltdown because Germany hasn't paid enough in war reparations? Really?! And this claim is asserted 65 years after the end of the war??!! What's the Greek word for chutzpah?

Greece should have raised this issue before it cooked the books to gain admission to the Eurozone. I guess they were too busy conspiring with Goldman Sachs to invent fraudulent financial instruments to hide their enormous debt from Eurostat and the EU.

Now Goldman Sachs, which made $300 million from the Greek fraud it helped to engineer, is speculating heavily through hedge funds that the Euro will sharply devalue as Greece defaults. In a normal world this would constitute a criminal enterprise. Watch Goldman Sachs, probably in collusion with the Chinese, buy up Greek bonds when they hit rock bottom.

Greece should be expelled from the Eurozone immediately, and Goldman Sachs should be prosecuted along with the Greek officials who perpetrated this fraud. A bailout of Greece would be unconscionable, and loan guarantees by the EU would be disastrous, as Greece produces nothing of export value and will never be able to pay off its existing debt, let alone new debt.

The Greek fiasco is what happens when cupidity and stupidity collide.
14:12 February 25, 2010 by Frenemy
@Agreek: "Beware of Greeks when they wakening up... you will not like our competition when will happen... in 10 years or in 20 years..."??? Is that just national pride talking, or are there some tangible indicators that suggest an impending Greek industrial renaissance?

@Prufrock2010: "The Greek fiasco is what happens when cupidity and stupidity collide"....well said! :-)
15:46 February 25, 2010 by Agreek
@Prufrock2010: You should read the Disclaimer on my post again...

The "reparations" isn't the cause of the melt down. I thing you should read my post again more in depth because I state my opinion on that. Moreover, yes the drawback of the huge loan that we just recently closed was massive though... why we didn't ask them before? Americans and Brits along with bankers from Swiss they put a Austrian/German King to control the country... just recently we overthrown the King in 1974 referendum just after the militants government of 67 -74, during the invasion of Turks in Cyprus... after that the only chance we had was with PM Simitis in the 90's which was so pro German that he imposed a law that is unique all over the world.... that don't allows Greek citizens that are asking compensations from courts in Greece to be effective in Germany without the permission of Minister of Justice...

That period the president of the Supreme Court was a person called Mathias an ex. german studied lawyer.... So if all this are answering your question why we didn?'t ask before... Because you did whatever was on your power to manipulate us and let it go...

With all the stupid articles of Focus and others you just weak-up us.... now that nothing is stopping us, you will see… just be prepared to pay...

@Frenemy: The last months I have taken 250Keuros job from a German competitor... And I'm ready to sue for Patent infringement another one... As I see it we have wakeup... so don't worry you will see it coming...

The Greek inventiveness is our major weapon, until know we were giving it away free, for the common scientific good... now that we realized that there is no such thing (common good)... its a matter of few years to see fruits of the new innovation policy to rise...
15:51 February 25, 2010 by nepo77
If your a Goldmann Sachs and co Banker you must be laughing your feet off about now.
16:37 February 25, 2010 by Prufrock2010
I wouldn't stake my future on winning huge damages in patent infringement litigation, Zorba. This is one area in which I know whereof I write.
16:47 February 25, 2010 by tollermann
@ wxman, nice post.

I guess Germany and its supporters are quite angry right now. I distinctly remember Germans carrying signs that Bush was a Nazi, Americans are Fat, lazy, etc....well guess what?

What comes around goes around, next hopefully we can get rid of our "World" President and send him and his teleprompter to you! Shadenfreude...how sweet!
17:12 February 25, 2010 by Agreek
@Prufrock2010: Its a patent on an industrial application... so I'm going to sue his client's.... Fritch... so yes am gonna get paid... Also the 250K$ that my competitor lost was because of the better quality... its a joke to lose a German a job from a Greek because of quality... you see Fritch things are changing...

So its either we going to thing EU as "WE" or its going to be "AS" and "THEM"...

You choose Fritch... one EU, same currency, same enemies and same interests or every one alone... ok Fritch...
17:56 February 25, 2010 by Prufrock2010
Bush wasn't a nazi, he was just a dumbass. Cheney's the nazi. And Americans as a population are obese. So what does this have to do with the Greek financial crisis -- except the fact that the fat cats (read: greedy bastards) at Goldman Sachs helped to engineer it and are now profiting from it?
18:59 February 25, 2010 by el_gr
I have read all the above posts and I cannot but wonder;

Why all this sudden hatred against greece? Just beause some low intelligenvce journalist came up with the briliiant idea of using a global cultural statue in such a proposterus way?

just read what the Agreek writes, there are some truths in there, as it is also true that politicians have grown corrupted and they have passed this on to many civilians as well. But this corruption helped also some German guys (see Siemens) paying under the table for fake equipment (c4i) as well as some American and other "Goldman Sachs".

Every country has something to be ashamed of, not only Greeks but German,Italians,French,Brits not mention Americans. And I cannot believe that either one of you believes that our governments (yours, mine) didn't know what was going under the table who has been lying andwho has been stealing.

Last, regarding to what HerrDinksbumps said, it is widely known what the mental abilities of the Americans (really who can be considered American?)are. Unfortunately most of you don't even know where Greece and Germany are, don't really know what the European Union is, and you travel in Muslim countries to hunt and kill a ghost that your clever president told you was a "bad boy".Just check in the MIT, where the top professors ans students come from and we can talk about it then.
19:06 February 25, 2010 by Prufrock2010
Exactly what ARE the mental abilities of Americans that are widely known? I'm an American living in Europe, and I know where Greece and Germany are. Please enlighten me (and all of us) by explicating on your rather incoherent generalization.
19:18 February 25, 2010 by el_gr
if you read carefully i said MOST of them. this whole page has been a generalization on how greeks are charlatans, cheaters, crude, you name it. if by any means you took it as a general comment, my apologies but as you cannot accept this, I cannot accept all this invective for greeks.

I cannot engage myself in a "who is better" competition just wanted to state that simple people don;t pull the strings anywhere and not all is to blame for this situation.
19:24 February 25, 2010 by fair1day
The German government on Wednesday dismissed a claim by the mayor of Athens that it still owed Greece billions of euros in reparations for World War II damage amid a mounting row with Berlin over the country's debt crisis.

Pretty funny!!!! The nerve of those greeks.

What a bunch of corrupt losers.
20:22 February 25, 2010 by Agreek
@faironeday: Andreas Peschke said ?"compensation for slave laborers?" in reality the document that we singed in 1960 is about ethnic attack to Jew?'s or Greek Jew?'s… so what Peschke said is just half truth… So hold your breath… first find the documents study them and then you will understand.

@Hamster3: You are a smart guy, you read history… you know that we can?'t ask compensation for something that is not being pass from a formal tribunal or there are not existing any documents for the event and additionally has happened 400 years ago…

On the other hand Greece vs Germany is well documented, our loans to Germany has being singed in 1950 so are not concerning Nazis, moreover there are formal papers in Bank of Greece, there is a real claim valid and the account is still open.

The WWII compensations (not to GreekJews) have being validated from the international law court, so again there is a stockpile of papers that confirming all these allegations. The papers because of research that professors did are available to people publicly and there is a committee of citizens that has copies and are really visible all the above.

Additionally all the above are documented in the international courts…

So your example is moot.

The argument that we didn?'t ask them is totally wrong… someone would say you owe money, why you are waiting to return them? Do you intent not to return them at the end?
20:34 February 25, 2010 by Agreek
@ExpatUSA: Your Kaczynski argument is about counter claims from Germans to Poland and vice versa…

We are talking about real loan that has being singed and there are documents proving it and the documents are five years AFTER the WWII 1950… so NO NAZI but instead real LOAN…

And on the other hand there is no claim from Germany to Greece so it?'s a tttally different case.
21:18 February 25, 2010 by Edmond Schindler
Is this country throwing a tantrum like a spoiled teenager?

Too immature to manage their emotions? Therefore may never be able to manage their money?

Just like a kid, they need to grow up! But I wouldn't hold my breath...
00:18 February 26, 2010 by Prufrock2010
None of this has anything to do with the current Greek financial meltdown. Greece was not forced to falsify its economic stats to gain entry into the Eurozone. Nor was Greece forced to falsify its records to hide its ever increasing debt. Nor was Greece forced to manufacture bogus financial instruments with the help of Wall Street to dupe the EU. Did they think this could go on forever? The new cliché, "too big to fail," as it applies to Greece, should be "too stupid to succeed." Greece should be expelled from the Eurozone forthwith. I, for one, have no interest in paying for Greece's profligacy and fraud.

Goodbye euro, hello drachma.
15:26 February 26, 2010 by duckys
I am very surprised to see how Greece is handling this situation... I guess growing up in the mid-west in America really hides you from the true world.

It has always been my dream to come to Europe and live. Now, i live here....(past 10 years...) the hype of living in Europe has really lost its touch...

It is pretty shameful to see something such as this happening in 2010... I thought that the racism phases of life were over!?!?!? It is pretty depressing to see such newspapers allowing this crap to be published... I understand about voicing your opinion... But in this manner really helps things?

I guess some people cannot leave the history in the past and go on... These types of things really bother me as I cannot stand when someone calls me a Yank and I am sure Germans cannot stand to be called Nazi's...

These all needs to stop and political figures need to start to be held accountable for poor management.... The finance crisis's in Greece is sad, but acting in such a way is really not acceptable...

Shame on Greece and it's Political Public Figures....
16:37 February 26, 2010 by Frenemy
"the Greek journalist/writer who used the "Bananas on trees" phrase is conveying the wrong thing or is just stupid"

...or both
19:27 February 26, 2010 by Dimi1357
Yeah Im Greek too...Reading all the comments in that article filled me with feelings of dissapointment. All these deeply offensive adjectives for me and my country...Lazy,greedy,stupid,corrupt and so on.The debt crisis cant be the reason for all this sudden resentment so they must have felt this long ago.The question is why? Northern Europeans are accusing the Greek goverment during the 90's for delivering false data ín order to enter the common currency .The truth is that this agreement with Goldman Sachs was legal then and it was a small portion of the debt. You cannot simply deny the country's big effort to join the euro. Many sacrifices were made back then and German attitude changed from hostility to strong support after being conviced that effective measures were actually being taken. From what Ive read untill now the Greek goverment is not asking the money of the German tax payer or any other's.All they want is political support from the union so that our spreads will fall to logical levels. It is very naive to think that Germans are actually paying for the Southern countries.Their economy had the best of the common currency because of the rise in exports and many other factors which an economist can explain better than me. Over the years Greece bought many German weapons but this submarine is not good.Even with a lower price we are not going to take it.Contrary to others there is countable possibility to use our weapons because of the cassus beli at the Aegean so we need them to be in high quality. Regarding the war reparations this is still an open issue and do not think that we are not going to claim back the money.Few comments above, the other fellow (agreek) answered you with facts and i didnt see anybody challenging.Only vague answers and no arguments.Nobody called you Nazis here, only failing to admit the truth...(even when he was writing capital he didnt generalised didnt he??...He said this kind of Germans are pigs not all of them). All they paid were 115 million to the Jewish community. Its not working like this guys, you have to pay for the gold that you took from the Central Bank and the loan. These are facts justified by signed treaties and admited by the then German goverment. Its not honest to try avoiding that isnt it????and dont tell me here that we are not accepting our responsobillities because we are... Greece payed a very big price from that war and after that we had another 3 years of civil war.Nevertheless today we have the biggest commercial fleet in the world and yes we became eligible for joining the eurozone. This is only the begining... I believe that eventually we will survive this crisis with or without help as happened with the Olympic Games (boy what they were writing back then...).Germans have to be carefull of their accusations, their nest is not clean either.

PS:If you've read till this point congrats!!!Ur a dude
00:45 February 27, 2010 by efi
So, everybody has a firm opinion as to what Greeks are like? We are lazy, corrupt, cons, collectively as a nation? How can you even identify common traits in a whole nation? Isn't that the epitome of racism?

Wake up, people, what is this hatred all about? I can't say that Germans are bad, I have German friends who are really nice people, and I'm sure there are bad Germans as well. How can you say that Greeks are collectively bad? There has been some overreaction on the part of Greeks as a result of the verbal attacks that have been targeted at us, but this is a REALLY DANGEROUS PATH. Hatred among nations has never led to anything good.

Let me get something straight. These attacks are absurd, as Greece is not the only nation that manipulated figures to enter the Eurozone. Nearly everybody did. Nor is the deficit higher than the ones of other countries. Greece did not cause the recession, maybe it is simply that capitalism cannot work anymore and everybody is looking for scapegoats.

We do not go on strike because we are lazy (!) and you should know that people in Greece work really hard to make ends meet. And sadly not everybody disagrees with the measures that have been dictated by the EU and imposed by our government. Only the left wing parties oppose to that. Yet, we must all protest because these measures are not going to help, just help the rich become richer and the poor poorer. And we DID NOT ASK THE EU FOR FINANCIAL HELP. We can solve our problems, and we would be in a better position if we were not a member of the EU.

So, instead of accusing the Greeks of being this and that, why don't you think about how you were so easily manipulated into thinking that Greece is the source of your problems?
02:59 February 27, 2010 by iason
Thank you Greece 1/2

Europeans should be thankful to the Greek People for helping them open up their eyes to a dysfunctional European "family" and the undemocratic and bureaucratic hegemony of Brussels.

They should thank the Greeks for because of their misfortune, they help expose the methods and schemes of the international banking cartels and their schemes against its member- states.

They should thank Greece for being part of the PIIGS, with a 3% impact in the overall EU economy, and not part of FUKG-S! (France, UK, i.e. the euro-partner with the opt-in with an option to-opt-out if opt-in does not pan-out, Germany, S! use your imagination) because then, that would have been a real disaster given today?'s economic crisis.

They should thank the Greek people for still resisting an imposed hegemony and a genetically modified sub-human life shared between a factory and a shopping mall.

Welcome then to the modern European family of the 21st century:

A European family that corrupts its satellite politicians by handing out loads of money so that their giant corporations get infrastructure contracts in Greece funded by EU, and then bring their money back to their home and their people with interest and keep collecting money for over 30 years (One hand gives, the other takes back with interest).

A European family that loves to spread risk and socialize costs to its members but demands the privatization of profits to a few.

A European family that treats its member-states as consumer markets flooding them with easy money and easy access to it so that they can buy their products.

A European family that does not invest in its member states with production facilities and factories so they can build and grow a real economy, but it chooses to do that in a non-member: Turkey

A European family that spends its summers in Greece, eating, drinking, enjoying the sun and hospitality of the Greek people and then turns back and spits at them.

A European family that does not promote tourism to one of its member states, but outside, say Turkey?

A European family that forces a soup of a uniform culture to its member states to suit a fake and imposed European identity, as opposed to accepting and celebrating its members as they are.

HerrDinksbumps :The Greeks and Portuguese were poor, and in the last years they haven't been exactly "poor" - no, they've been living pretty well.. THANKS TO GERMAN TAXPAYERS AND DEBT.

Dearest friend.

Please come and check my pockets. If you find your money please come and take them back.

I don't know who is paying anymore and why. I also so the cover of Focus and thought that it is just a stupid article. But i feel really sad when i see in many forums such hate for Greeks. I never thought of Germans as Nazis or anything like that.

But is this the real icon that Germans have for us?

Most of my friends are the exact opposite of what Focus magazine is describing. We all work more than 10 hours a day. We all have problems with our jobs.We never had three months vacations.

I must inform you that our money go to our politicians, as yours probably.

This is a matter that we must resolve. We are already an exhausted nation from taxes, poor education, bad government.

Thank you very much all, but we don't need your depreciation. We can make out with our problems as we did all these years. We are not intend to beg for anything. No one will ever know how people of a different nation are.

We should all speak for our selves.

Sorry for my English.

I wish you all have a happy weekend!

For those Americans that have posted here and those especially running down Greece. Just so that you know where you are coming from, without Greece you would still be eating raw meat in caves. And as for your English language, seventy thousand of the words you use are actually Greek words. Without the borrowed Greek vocabulary you would have no language to speak of except profanities that you so liberally use. And when you say "it is Greek to me," you bet ya! I am adding here a link for your happy viewing. It is an eye opener for you smug Americans that forget where your country is heading. The great American Empire is owned by China, let's not forget ourselves now. Those that live in glass houses my friends should not throw stones.

I had a girl freind that was from Greece some years ago, all i can say is she was hot, not as hot as my 105 pound Japanese wife, but she did get the job done. Although my wife could be up to 107 pounds, I forgot she has been sneaking off to the local Wendys lately, she has a habit of ordering those triple burgers with medium frys, cute little thing but she can be a sneak, oh well anyway back to the subject at hand, i'm all eye's go ahead people.

hellloooooo ... ! ! !

let's read some interesting opinions from those who give loans from the money they have grabbed and never give them back !!!!! VERY clever indeed ...

well ... at first you speak Greek and most of you don't know it, i think because you only have time for drinking !!!

but this don't stop you from coming here, bomb all the country, cities, factories, ports, villages, kill unarmed old people and babes, rape and so, so, so other atrocities. OF COURSE the first think you have in mind and do, is to grab all the gold from our NATIONAL BANK. and OF COURSE you're not happy from the money WE have give you to feed all those "brave" criminals you have send here, YOU NEED MORE AND YOU HAVE GET IT AS A LOAN FROM US, AND OF COURSE YOU DON'T GIVE IT BACK ..... ALSO ....

YOU SEE MY CLEVER GERMANS I HAVE THE RIGHT TO CALL YOU CRIMINALS, BECAUSE THIS IS "RES JUDICATA" .... IS WHAT THE COURT HAVE SAID FOR YOU, NOT US ...... AS THE YHAVE SAID FOR THE MONEY YOU OWE TO US ! ! ! ! BUT YOU DENIED TO PAY TILL NOW, WITH "HARD TRICKS" ..... VERY REPUTED !!!!

SURPRISE, SURPRISE ..... YOU'RE THE THIEVES, THOSE WHO LIVE FROM OTHER PEOPLES MONEY ! ! ! !

... YOU ALSO STEAL MANY MANY STATUES AND OTHER ARCHAEOLOGICAL ITEMS FROM OUR COUNTRY, (THE SAME TIME YOU ADMIRE THEM), BUT YOU NEVER BRINK THEM BACK ..... GREAT MORALISTS, OR THE GREATEST THIEVES ?!?!?!

OF COURSE I'M NOT SURPRISED AT ALL FROM YOUR ARGUMENTS, BECAUSE THIS IS AN EGOIST'S AND A LIAR'S CHARACTERISTIC, AND YOU HAVE OUR SYMPATHY BECAUSE OF THE GLOBAL HUMILIATION YOU HAVE AFTER YOUR CRIMINALITIES AGAINST ALL THE NATIONS OF EUROPE ..... YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS ETHER YOU WANT TO ACCEPT IT OR NOT … IS A FACT.

THE PROBLEM IS THAT YOU CAN HAVE THIS KIND OF "CONVERSATIONS" BETWEEN YOU, AND NOT OUTSIDE YOUR BRAVE COUNTRY, BECAUSE YOUR HUMILIATION IS KEEPING ON AND ON ... SAME TIME YOU "PLAY" THE "GENTLEMEN", AND THE HARD WORKERS, WITH OTHER PEOPLES MONEY, AND WORKMEN FROM OTHER COUNTRIES ! ! ! WHAT ARE YOU? A NATION OF CHAIRMANS??? !!!! THE ONLY THINK YOU KNOW IS TO GIVE ADVISE AND ORDERS ....

GIVE THEM TO YOUR CHILDREN, THOSE WHO LIVE FROM THE MONTHLY "CHARITY", THE UNEMPLOYMENT BENEFIT ..... I HAVE BEEN THERE A LOT AND I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT .... AND YOU KNOW ALSO, AH??? !!!!! (AS YOU KNOW ALSO FOR THE JUNKIES YOU FEED THERE, JUST FOR YOUR FRIENDS, THE TURKS AND THE ALBANIANS, TO SELL THEIR DOPE) … (he laughs best who laughs last).

THIS KIND OF CRITIC IS SOMETHING YOU CAN MAKE FOR THE TURKS YOU HAVE THERE, YOUR ALLIE IN 1st AND 2nd W.W., A COUNTRY WITH NO VICTIMS AND DISASTERS AT ALL. A COUNTRY WHO HAS YOUR BACKING TILL TODAY FOR AGGRESSIONS AGAINST US ..... JUST FOR YOU TO SELL ARMS AND BOMBS IN BOTH SIDES ..... A VERY DIRTY AND DOUBLE-FACE ACT .....

Sure if we get involved in a heated debate, we can be certain there won't be

a solution. This is not about Greece or Germany.

It is about the most evil organisation in the world, the IMF, trying to enter

the EU by attacking vulnerable countries first, like Greece, then a few others

and before you know it the EU has become a Banana Republic which is

the way all of the Latin American countries have become.

Wake up guys, the time to embrace and uphold the freedoms and rights

that we in Europe are so proud of has come.

Think with a clear head and consider the macro consequences.

Greece needs to be saved by Europe, collectively but they also need

to be disciplined and made to pay for their fiscal irresponsibilities, given.

Let's stick together and maybe we still have a future.

Well, at least it isn't Bush's fault, but pulling Adolf out of his grave is also getting kind of old. Besides, have the Greeks paid reparations for Ottoman territory they conquored? Have the Athenians repaid Troy for all the damage Achillleus did? Interesting to note that when government becomes a major employer, nobody has a pay check, because government has to tax something besides everybodies' patience.

Hello to all,

I wonder why it is so hard, to see that the problem is not about, greeks or germans.

The problem is that some "philanthropist"- investors have bet against euro.

Your and our money.

Please take a moment to read the following article (..it is a little long)

Ways to Profit During a Greek Tragedy

http://www.thejakartaglobe.com/business/ways-to-profit-during-a-greek-tragedy/356514

There are thousands like that on the internet.

They have bet in the collapse of EURO.

So... please wake up, before it is too late....

...I am wathing the EU parliament and is like I am watching the circus.

...the same happens here.

Remember that the man (anthropos) is the creature that "sees" through the mind.

thank you

The germans only know how to attack, and ?"play?" the ?"strong?", but you?'re the pettiest case when you have to defend your country.

This is what happened after your beating in w.w.2 …

AT FIRST YOU PLAY THE ROUGHNECKS WITH THE JEWS, BUT THE DAY AFTER YOU?'RE DEFENSELESS AGAINST ALL THE ZIONIST REGIMES, USSR, UK, US.

YOU GIVE THEM THE RIGHT TO TAKE THE GAME TO THEIR HANDS AND ALL THE ARGUE FOR BEING THE RULERS, FINANCIAL AND POLITICAL ALL OVER EUROPE.

YOU AND YOUR CAPRICIOUS BEHAVIOR, IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONDITION OF EUROPE IN THE HANDS OF PROFITEERS, BECAUSE OF THE DISASTER YOU HAVE LEFT BEHIND YOU.

AND AFTER THIS, YOU?'RE SEATING IN THE SAME TABLE WITH THEM (BECAUSE YOU?'RE HYPOCRITES AND CHICKENS IN FROND OF THEM), AND YOU PRETEND YOU DON?'T KNOW THAT THEY ARE RULING YOUR NATION, AND ALL TOGETHER YOU DRINK OUR BLOOD ONCE AGAIN, PRETENDING OUR FRIENDS.

Don?'t say that you don?'t know the names of the profiteers, let?'s say the Rothschild family from Frankfurt, and how the have been in Milan, Paris, London, Vienna … and what they have to do with, all the others in u.s. and u.k. …. What the relation with Rockefeller, Lehman brothers, Goldman shacks, g.p. morgan, or who belongs the ?"der Spiegel?" …. Don?'t pretend you don?'t know what?'s the common between them …

THAT?'S WHY, BECAUSE OF ALL YOUR MISTAKES, ALL YOUR UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR, YOU DON?'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO SPEAK AND INDICATE NOTHING … DON?'T ?"PLAY?" THE ?"WISE MAN?" TO US, BECAUSE YOU?'RE FAR BEHIND FROM IT.

But, there is something else, the geopolitical spot of Greece.

You pretend the ?"ADAMANT?" to us, but you love Greece to be in your side.

The proof for this, is what happen before 2 days.

When Obama, ask from our prime minister to visit the white house, the ?"iron lady?" agela merkel, hastily ask for a visit to berlin, before he goes in the states …(hahaha)..

AND AFTER THAT YOU PLAY THE ?"GAME?" ?"DO THIS AND DO THAT?" …

.

WHY DON?'T YOU SAY THE TRUTH??

YOU TRY HARD TO BLAME US (THE 5% of the E.U.) FOR YOUR DISABILITY

…. SOON THE REAL PROBLEM IN THE E.U. IS GOING TO BE SPAIN, PORTUGAL, IRELAND, AND NEXT, YOU, NETHERLANDS AND U.K. !!!

WE KNOW THAT YOU?'RE PATHETIC, BUT NOW WE SEE THAT YOU ALSO THAT FUNNY INDEED …

I TELL YOU ONCE AGAIN, WE?'RE ONLY A MARKET FOR YOU, GO AND PLAY WITH YOUR TRUE FRIENDS THE TURKS THE ALBANIANS THE SCOPIANS, AND ALL THE OTHER THIEVES.

IS A COMPLIMENT FOR YOU TO HAVE GREECE IN THE E.U.. YOU SEE, IS EASY FOR US TO BE WITH AMERICANS, OR RUSSIANS, WITH OUR GEOPOLITICAL SPOT THAT EVERYONE WANT TO HAVE IN THEIR SIDE. STOP TO PRETEND … BECAUSE MAYBE YOU NEED TO BEG ?"AGAIN?" IN THE FUTURE.

YOU KNOW, AS YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO SELL YOUR PRODUCTS (THAT ARE NOT SO GOOD AT ALL, ANY MORE), WE HAVE THE RIGHT TO ?"SELL?" OUR ?"DIAMONDS?", EVEN IF YOU PRETEND THEY?'RE MISTY …

IF YOU DON?'T LIKE THEM, PLEASE, AS POLITELY AS I CAN BE WITH HYPOCRITES LIKE YOU … GET LOST FROM HERE …

AND A TIP FOR YOU … WHITE SOCKS ARE NOT GO WITH SANDALS, IN PUBLIC !!!

Most EU members happen to be in the military alliance as Turkey and Greece, the NATO. We're all allies.

That?'s very interesting news, We?'re all allies you said !

So, explain to your self,

why we have to pay for all those guns to protect our country from an ally?

why this ally frighten us with war, if we get the oil from Aegean?

why we have only 6 miles from our coasts, and not 12 as all countries, again with the frighten that if we go to 12 miles, this is an act of war?

why they get to our f.i.r 20-25 times every day?

and why YOU support them in this ridiculous acts?

Do you believe that these goes with the word ?"ally?" ?

Please, stop pretending, or if you don?'t, please try to learn what do you speak about, before you speak, otherwise, those are only annoying bla, bla, bla !

bungled dumbheaded socialistic mistake.

Earn your own money Greece....

We do, and you grab them !

You mast learn to earn, and not to get, get, get … WITH YOUR HOPELESS ARROGANCE

according the court, you have to pay what you owe, when germany is coming in a whole again. You?'re one country again, and the union pays for the GRATE GERMANY AND YOUR FIESTAS.

Now is the time all the germans together, to face what you owe to us, according the court that criminate you.

Is hopeless to APPEAL GOD TO SAVE YOU, OR RUN TO HAGUE, AND CRY TO GIVE YOU SHRIFT … FOR NOT TO BE BROKEN AGAIN !

IS NOT OUR RESPONSIBILITY TO SAVE YOU. YOU WORK A LOT BECAUSE YOU HAVE A GIANT DEPT, FROM THE TIME YOU PLAY THE BRAVE WARRIORS, REMEMBER ?!? OR YOU TRY TO FORGET ?!? WE CAN?'T FORGET BECAUSE WE STILL LIVING HERE AFTER YOUR ATROCITIES.

SO, SPEAK WITH GOD AS LONG AS YOU WANT, BUT LEARN TO PAY … AND BE HONEST ONCE IN YOUR HISTORY.

STOP TRAVELING ALL AVER EUROPE LIKE MILLIONAIRES, AND START WORKING TO PAY FOR YOUR DEPT.

YOU SAY THAT WE HAVE A BETTER LIFE, BUT THE TRUE IS THAT WE WORK ALL OUR LIFE TO BUILD WHAT YOU DESTROY.

WE DON?'T HAVE THE MONEY TO TRAVEL, BECAUSE YOU HAVE TO GET DOUBLE WHEN YOU?'RE WORKING, AN D WE PAY DOUBLE WHEN WE HAVE TO BUY YOUR PRODUCTS …

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH LEACHES.

LEARN, FOR THE NEXT TIME, NOT TO BE SO BRAVE AND SURE FOR YOUR VICTORY, JUST BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU?'RE BIG, AND YOUR ENEMY SMALLER. YOU?'RE JUST A GIANT, WITH CHICKEN?'S BRAIN, AND FEET FROM CLAY.

LEARN FROM YOUR HISTORY, AND DON?'T SPEAK ABOUT SOCIALISM, BECAUSE THE LAST TIME YOU PUT IT NEXT TO YOUR NATION, EUROPE DIES FROM THE BAD SMELL.

AT LAST, ASK YOUR SELF, IF YOU HAVE THE STRENGTH TO DO IT,

ARE YOU ABLE TO PAY FOR YOUR MISTAKES?

ARE YOU BELIEVE YOU HAVE MADE ANY MISTAKES?

ARE YOU THE KIND OF PEOPLE WHO PAYS WHAT THEY OWE?

OR YOU ARE JUST A SIMPLE KIND OF THIEVES, WHO CAN ONLY TRY TO FIND EXCUSES, AND BLAME ALL THE OTHERS, TO AVOID THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES?

BE HONEST FOR ONCE, AND STOP YOUR HUMILIATION

Hey People, what does it matter if Greece tightens it's spending habit or not? So Greece goes through a bit of inflation, no biggie!! What is the worry for Germany or the rest of Europe? NOTHING! Relax, there is no problem except for the imaginary one of the EU, no need to get into name calling or being nasty.

ok this is just getting ridiculous, its a pretty sad state when greece wants reperations (HAND OUT)from the germans and when its not forthcoming they scream NAZI. Here is and idea greece how about working for a G***AMN living and get yourself out of the mess YOU created.
22:18 March 1, 2010 by another greek
"The Greeks felt insulted with Focus and answered accordingly. "

The thing is they did not answer accordingly, but irrelevantly. The article was unacceptably vague, populist and ironic. Yet, an appropriate answer would refer to the article's quotes and not to old stories, improper threats or silly comparisons between the Greek and German culture.

Those who reacted so, just lost their nerve. Some of them also proved how ignorant they are.

very disappointing that European sense of solidarity can collapse so quickly. Pull yourselves together!

First of all Greeks are not lazy

http://www.younggreeks.org/apps/blog/show/8744738-mythbusters-are-greeks-lazy-

Second, it's disappointing that German politicians are shying away from making the case for saving the Euro and instead making half hearted concessions to the fears of the tabloids. Europe needs a statesman now more than ever! Merkel read the original crisis in 2009 so well, what has happened?
