November kicks off with wind and rain

The brief Indian summer enjoyed across Germany towards the end of October is well and truly over with November set to get off to a wet and blustery start over the weekend, the German weather service DWD says.

Strong winds are also set to sweep the country from south to west, and central hilly regions in particular should expect stormy gusts. The possibility of short localised storms cannot be ruled out, and the DWD has warned of the possibility of hurricane-strength gusts in mountainous areas.
Saturday will remain cloudy with intermittent rain, which is likely to be especially relentless in southern and central regions. Only determined optimists should hold out for any prolonged let-up, while the blustery winds of Friday are also set to continue.
Saturday night may bring some respite for the west, as the rain is due to withdraw eastwards, but the north and along the Danube are likely to remain wet.
Sunday promises yet more cloud, rain, and wind, above all in the south and centre of Germany. Coastal areas are also expected to be affected, and could see storms. Sunday night should bring further rainy weather and a drop in temperature.
The outlook for the following week is similarly bleak. With the inclement weather showing no signs of lifting soon, Germans would be advised to keep their brollies handy when out and about.
