Filmstar: Berlin not safe for a Ferrari

German filmstar Daniel Brühl, a well-known resident of Berlin’s hip Kreuzberg district, is too scared of local auto arsonists to buy himself a Ferrari.

This means he has been driving Ferraris – and given him the desire to buy one for himself.
But he said living in Berlin made such an idea a risky one.
“I sadly don’t have a garage,” he told Die Welt newspaper’s weekend edition. “And one has to protect such a car well. In Berlin cars are set on fire.”
He already has two cars – an old Alfa Romeo Guilia and a Peugeot 2004 convertible, both of which have been spared the flames of south-central Berlin’s anarchists.
BMW and New York's Guggenheim Museum recently changed plans to bring an urban design showcase to Kreuzberg after over threats of attacks.

By the way there were no specific "threats" about BMW's proposed branding exercise in Kreuzberg that got supposed Social Democrats like Wowereit all bent out of shape.
Car-addicted country. A little USA with more health care, a bit more cycling and better bread.
the "socially conscious" Hollywood stars you mention probably have no problem flying around the world in private jets to attend parties and award shows. Besides, what's the problem with buying an expensive car if you can afford it? Seems to me that people have to design and build these cars and that they therefore have jobs which they are paid to do. Being "socially conscious" does not mean that you cannot spend good money to buy something that other people are paid good money to produce.
Or do you just not like the fact that there are other people who can afford to buy more expensive things than you can?
