Beate Uhse looks to 3-D porn for salvation

Flagging German sex shop chain Beate Uhse said this week it would embrace 3-D porn movies to boost limp sales.

Financial news agency Bloomberg reported that the Flensburg-based company has seen profits from hardcore sex films squeezed in recent years amid a surfeit of free pornography online. Whereas x-rated movies accounted for three quarters of revenues 15 years ago, they have since plunged to only 17 percent.

“The sale of erotic movies on DVD fell within a few years from top to flop because of the surprisingly fast emergence of free porn on the internet,” Serge van der Hooft, the firm’s Chief Operating Officer, told Bloomberg.

But he cautioned Beate Uhse’s multidimensional sex offensive was still in a test phase: “We need to see how people will react to things coming at them in a 3-D porn movie.”

The chain has already started selling a 3-D version of “Octopussy,” a James Bond porn parody starring Danny Mountain. But with three-dimensional skin flicks costing upwards of €300,000 a pop, it remains to be seen if horny technology fans will be willing to spend around €70 per movie for the pleasure of supporting cutting-edge porn.

Named after its intrepid post-war birth control pioneer Beate Uhse, the company has struggled to stay profitable since 2006 and is forecasting a loss this year.

Bloomberg also reported that Beate Uhse’s hundreds of sex shops across Europe have had trouble repositioning themselves as purveyors of erotic lifestyle products as more people shop for sex toys like vibrators online.

If a porn starlet has Double D's and the film is in 3D, does that mean her boobies are DDDDDD's?

"it remains to be seen if horny technology fans will be willing to spend around €70 per movie for the pleasure of supporting cutting-edge porn."

What when you can get the job done for free on the internet? Beate uhse have prospered for some years but have now been caught out by technology, instead of trying to compete with the internet and the anonimity it brings, they failed years ago to see the opportunity online. If relative innocent sites such as YouTube that offer free products can be worth $billions, then it is possibly pure ignorance on behalf of Beate uhse to assume they could still survive on overpriced hard formats off the shelf compared to free content available online. Afterall if you really need to watch a 90 minute DVD of erotic drama, then you've perhaps got bigger (and by that I mean smaller) issues to be concerned about, and the internet could be your saviour.

I've not been impressed with the 3D films I've seen so far, it takes time to get used to the glasses and strains my eyes, now with "erotic drama" in 3D it will be true what the vicar told me, it will definately make me go blind!

It should be 3D porn with option of virtual reality. They could create special room where 3D porn with intelligence could be experienced with special kind of beam which could be felt ie., porn actress jerking off the person in that room or a stud in the 3D porn drilling any women through some beam.

Sad.. there is no technological advance in this industry.. only last best thing was fleshlight..
