Maybe you have never made a mistake, but most people do - and if someone decides that associating too closely with dangerous people was a mistake then allowing him to correct himself sounds like a cheaper solution than yours.
I think this is a good way to get the extremist to intregrate into our communities a little easier.
Its where some Bleeding Heart throws a Pet Shop bought Asian Snakehead Fish into European and American lakes and streams, to 'Save the poor thing'. Only to have that same fish and its offspring threaten to eliminate all native species.
I'm sure John le Carre can come up with some scenario where extremists use it to their advantage, but it is common for far worse 'mafia style' bad guys than the misguided kids targeted here.
What exactly is a "bleeding heart liberal," and why must you resort to cheap slogans to discuss an issue that is nonpartisan? Are you unable to make a cogent point without resorting to bumper sticker terminology?
That being said, if it's too difficult to sort them out from the ones that want to destroy our civilization, then they will have to be casualties. Sorry.
