Germans trace Hezbollah coke smuggling profits

German investigators are uncovering the drug-smuggling business of the Syrian-backed Lebanese militant organisation Hezbollah, moving cocaine from Beirut into Europe via Frankfurt airport.

A report in Der Spiegel magazine this weekend said initial suspicions that Hezbollah was raising funds by smuggling cocaine were raised in May 2008 when around €8.7 million in cash was found in the luggage of four Lebanese men at Frankfurt airport.

A further €500,000 was found in the flat of one of the suspects, in the Rhineland Pfalz town of Speyer.

Two Lebanese men were arrested in October 2009 when customs officers and federal criminal police agents raided a house in Speyer.

The magazine says the suspicion is that family members have been regularly moving millions of euros raised in the European cocaine trade, via Frankfurt to Beirut. Those receiving the money in Lebanon are said to be members of a family with contacts with the highest levels of Hezbollah command including leader Hassan Nasrallah.

A close relation of the suspects has rejected all the allegations, the magazine reported.

The comment from Tango re Hezbollah and the Drug Cartels sharing routs into the US. I agree that it must be a multi-attack effort.According to multiple sources, asa hutchinson was the united states attorney in charge of drug smuggling in arkansas when bill clinton was governor and hillary clinton was laundering the money through a funding structure which included

Yes, drug smuggling is a very peaceful (and profitable) occupation when its underwritten by Hezbollah. The only reason they're doing it is because big bad Israel makes them.
19:08 January 9, 2010 by D R Jones
Seems Hezbollah and American drug dealers have something in common. They don't mind killing your children (regardlesss of what country you're from) or mine (American) in order to fight a war in the name of their god. Now those are people that I want to learn about god from! Drug dealers deserve one bullet, nothing more.
19:42 January 9, 2010 by auslanderus
Ah yes Israel is forceing Hezbollah to sell drugs in Europe thats killing people with guns and bullets. But thats ok I guess......
19:56 January 9, 2010 by Talonx
D R Jones,

Noticing a pattern here, you just want to put a bullet in everyone it seems. Nice and constructive.

I assume I should learn about god from you then?

haha..arent we ALL F'ed up a little?
00:10 January 10, 2010 by wood artist
Jibzy, you're only 50% correct.

I would agree that the actions taken by Israel, specifically the continuation of the settlement building in occupied territory and the lockdown of access to Gaza, have not made peace more likely in the area.

However, to suggest that everything was peaceful in Palestine before the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948 is pure BS. That area has never been peaceful, for the same reasons that are cited in the Bible. They're still fighting the same fight that is chronicled in the Old Testiment, and until both sides are willing to get over that, a lasting peace is impossible.

D R Jones is right on the money. Hezbollah is just another alias for the mafia and gangs that plague civilization in every country. The religious and ethnic strife in the middle east is just a cover for the criminal element in Palestine to make money any way they can no matter who gets hurt. Make no mistake it is money that is Hezbollah's god.

@wood artst: You're right. But Jews were definitely living peacefully under Muslim rulership. Dont jump to conclusions. I'm against political Islam too..i dont want Islamic rulership in Israel or anywhere too but you can see what is going on in the absence of that.

Anyway, if you really consider yourself fair, just look at what Israel is doing to Palestinians. youtube it or liveleak.com it. Once you see the full picture, i bet you will have no compasion for the Israeli government. They're cruel in its purest form. The amount of 'bad' that Hezbollah or Hamas do put together does not equal BY FAR to what Israel is doing to Gaza.

Hezbollah is financed by the noses of Europe's snorters. How ironic.
19:10 January 10, 2010 by derExDeutsche
its time the world woke up and realized something;

It is no longer drug cartels and mafia types at the top of the drug production networks. Drug production and distribution, for hard drugs, ie. Cocaine and Heroin, are STATE RUN ORGANIZATIONS. The Governments of Venezuela and Bolivia are responsible for nearly 95% the cocaine manufactured in the world. Wake up! The media does not report on this!
