Job vacancies reach record high

The number of vacant positions in Germany reached a 10-year record high, according to data from the Federal Statistics Office published on Saturday by the Bild newspaper.

There were nearly 400,000 jobs waiting to be filled last year – more so than at any time over the past ten years. Some 385,951 positions, to be exact, had no takers.

More than 135,000 had remained vacant for more than three months because the government employment agency was not able to find a suitable worker. That’s also a 10-year record and nearly twice the level seen in 2010.

On average it took 80 days to get a job filled – also a 10-year record and 13 days longer than in 2011.

There were 374 unemployed people for every 100 openings, the data showed – the lowest level since this statistic was kept in 2007. Back then there were 592 jobless for every 100 positions.

Openings remained vacant the longest for train drivers (173 days), doctors (171), service personnel for passenger transportation (145) and technical research and development jobs (137).

Lies,Lies and complete bullshine.

Break down the figures please ,how many are agency ,mini-jobs,part time .

I would not be surprises if the pope's job is included in the cooked books.

mini jobs, internships and fake postings to make a company look like it is doing well. Apply for all these jobs and see how many replies you get. These companies mass mail the rejection letters which they have printed up already.

How much to TL get from the government to post this propaganda?

@englishted & Berlin fuer alles-Don't agree with you on many things, but on this subject your views are spot on.I might even agree with the popes job cooking the books-Holy smoke would our great German Government do that?

400 € mini jobs, interships and the like... yes I agree this is PROPAGANDA at its finest here....

come on guys ! I am sure that mini jobs are a problem but I can tell you there is really a lack of qualified workers... when I was offered my first contract I had to wait 3 months while the job agency searched if there was a German national who can fill the vacancy ..... NO ONE APPLIED

This report is pure propaganda IMO.

I live here and apart from the 1 Euro and 4 Euro jobs, there is not much in decent paying work ..... unless you are a Politician of course. But then that isn't "work" .. now is it !

Many firms are looking for 400 Euro/Month workers .... especially the small firms.

There are so many "closing down" sales and old companies that after 100+ years in existence - despite 2 world wars - are now gone ... all thanks to the "Euro" and the EU policies.

Thank G*d for Nigel Farage and Dan Hannan.

They are both Heroes in Germany !!

"There were nearly 400,000 jobs waiting to be filled last year".

Which breaks down to:

- 200,000 mini jobs

- 100,000 agency jobs

- 50,000 part time jobs

- 49,000 one-euro jobs

- 1000 "normal" jobs

Yes, my numbers are arbitrary but not more so than the random numbers published by the Federal Statistics Office. I may even exaggerate on the numbers of the "normal" jobs.

Tonnes and tonnes of work for those who are willing to work for little or no pay.
