Daimler says Mercedes on track for record 2012

German automaker Daimler said on Wednesday that its Mercedes-Benz division is on target for its best-ever year in 2012 after achieving record sales in November.

Since January, Mercedes-Benz had delivered a total of 1.195 million passenger cars worldwide -- an increase of 5.1 percent -- which was also a new record, the carmaker said.
"In November we posted a new sales record again. Shortly before the end of the year we thus continue on course to making 2012 the biggest-selling year in company history so far," boasted Mercedes-Benz sales and marketing chief, Joachim Schmidt.
While sales in western Europe advanced by a modest 1.0 percent in the 11-month period, the carmaker sold 11.4 percent more cars in the Americas and 6.6 percent more in the Asia-Pacific region.
