Woman smuggles kilo of cocaine in stomach
Customs at Stuttgart Airport caught a passenger carrying one kilo of cocaine in her stomach over the weekend.
The woman arrived at the city's airport from Spain when she was stopped by border officers while walking through the "Nothing to Declare" exit.
When officers asked the 26 year-old what she was doing in Stuttgart, she contradicted her story and started to panic.
The woman was then given a drugs test which she failed.
Believing she was a drug mule, Stuttgart prosecutors ordered an X-ray which showed she had swallowed 70 packets of cocaine. They were sitting in her stomach and intestine.
She eventually produced all 70 packets, holding one kilo of cocaine, and was arrested.
"Drug smugglers are a rare occurrence at Stuttgart Airport," a Customs spokesman said. "We're please that our controls are so effective."
