Germany crowned World Champions again
Germany won the U20 women's football World Cup on Sunday with a 1:0 victory over Nigeria in Canada. It is the third international title a German football side has won this summer.
The U20 women's side won in extra time in the match in Montreal, with a goal from Lena Petermann in the 98th minute.
The victory follows Germany's World Cup triumph in Brazil in July and the U19 men's team clinching the European Championships this summer.
It was also the women's third World Cup title in the last ten years. The U19 team were crowned champions in 2004 and the U20 side won in 2010.
Coach Maren Meinert said: "We wanted to have a good tournament but we didn't expect to be World Champions. I'm proud of my team and happy we did it.
"It was a crazy final."
