Staff at the Moosach plant near Munich couldn't believe their eyes when their industrial shredder began spewing out money, the Abendzeitung regional newspaper reported on Tuesday.
They rang the police, who figured that someone must have thrown away tens of thousands of euros by accident, possibly while clearing out a house and not looking properly at what they were putting in boxes headed to the landfill.

Staff at the Bundesbank were called in to calculate the amount of money found shredded.
Police said on Tuesday that they were looking for the owner. “We're handling this as a lost property case,” officers said in a statement.
They believe whoever threw it away lives in the Munich area.
If no one comes forward then employees at the waste disposal centre will get the cash as the money is still legal tender, the Abendzeitung reported.
