Smuggler swallowed 124 bags of drugs
A drug smuggler was caught at an airport in southern Germany with 124 packets of cannabis hidden in his stomach at the weekend.
The 31-year-old unemployed man from Upper Palatine, Bavaria, had travelled from Spain and was entering Germany when he was stopped at customs at Nuremberg airport.
A long-serving customs office became suspicious of him and the man was examined overnight at a hospital.
An X-ray confirmed the officers suspicions, the customs office said. He had swallowed 124 small plastic bags containing the drugs.
In the next 12 hours on December 7th and into December 8th under medical supervision he passed out all the packets which weighed a total of 860 grammes.
He was arrested and his flat was searched where drug paraphernalia was found.
The case is now with Munich's customs office.
