From a rebellious seal to a stunning aerial shot of Germany's most controversial bridge, The Local has selected some of the best photos of the week in our pictorial review of the news.
The week began on a high for people in Dresden who after years of waiting could finally drive across a new bridge over the river Elbe. But the bridge has been controversial and delayed by courts, bats and Unesco.
Our cute animal picture of the week is Zola, the two-year-old seal who has escaped her zoo enclosure and insists on hanging out with swans.
