New in German cinemas: 'Beautiful Creatures'
Find movies playing in English in Germany with The Local’s cinema guide.
Part fantasy film, part love story, part supernatural teen flick, Beautiful Creatures is the much-needed fix all you Twilight fans out there have been waiting for.
Set in the American South, it follows the tortured romance of Lena Duchannes (Alice Englert), a witch who will soon be claimed for either the dark side or the light, and Ethan Lawson Wate (Alden Ehrenreich), the bookish boy who falls in love with her. Based on the popular YA novel by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, Beautiful Creatures offers up beautiful sets, an enchanting atmosphere and two impressive performances from its young leads, who manage, remarkably, to hold their ground alongside seasoned costars like Jeremy Irons, Emma Thompson and Viola Davis.
