New in German cinemas this week is 'Silver Linings Playbook,' which has met with broad critical success and earned four Golden Globe nominations.

In the film, Pat Solatano (Bradley Cooper) is in a bad place: after an eight-month stint in a state psychiatric facility, he’s moved back in with his parents, determined to rebuild his life. Enter Tiffany (Jennifer Lawrence), a mysterious neighbor who offers to help Pat reconnect with his estranged wife, but only if he agrees to join her in a ballroom dance competition. As their deal plays out, the two damaged souls develop an unexpected bond – against the backdrop of the Philadelphia Eagles football season.

This quirky romantic comedy has strong performances from Cooper, Lawrence, Jacki Weaver and Robert De Niro, as well as a sharp screenplay by David O. Russell, who also directs.
